Reblogged: A Loving Pursuit: Part 7 (Spring Cleaning)

I came across this old post from my other blog today. I am thinking maybe I should break up some fallow ground of my own. Who knows maybe there will be some new posts to come. 🙂

Scripture Reference;

“25 When Methuselah was 187 years old, Lamech was born to him.

26 Methuselah lived after the birth of Lamech 782 years and had other sons and daughters.

27 So Methuselah lived 969 years, and he died.

28 When Lamech was 182 years old, a son was born.

29 He named him Noah, saying, This one shall bring us relief and comfort from our work and the [grievous] toil of our hands due to the ground being cursed by the Lord.”  Genesis 5:25-29 AMP

15 And God spoke to Noah, saying,

16 Go forth from the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives with you.

17 Bring forth every living thing that is with you of all flesh—birds and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the ground—that they may breed abundantly on the land and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth.

18 And Noah went forth, and his wife and his sons…

My husband died suddenly and unexpectedly on December 24, 2021.

The past few months have presented many challenges, but the Lord has sustained me. Please pray that the Lord would guide me regarding my blogs. You can learn about them in the “about” section of this blog.

Dear Hurting Heart

I was reading here today and just had to share this! ❤

Adeleke Adeite

There are times we feel hurt, hopeless and helpless. Life throws bricks at us to break our hearts and fight our faith.
In stormy seasons like this, our strength and skills seem worthless. We tend to believe that it’s either prayers are not working or God is not listening.

I have been through such situations in recent times, I was tempted to ask, “where is God?” I stopped breathing for days. I couldn’t feel myself, God seems so distant, I drowned in feelings of defeat, disappointments, denial and delay that I was dealing with.

In stretching my faith, I prayed, praised, worshipped, cried and pleaded but things appeared to get more out of my control. In all of these, a still small voice kept on telling me that I was not buried to die but ‘buried to bloom‘.

“The Mystery of Prayer”: Prayer Transports Us.

image description for the blind and visually impaired:  A doe is poised in a shady green and protected area, looking intently, straight ahead into the camera’s lens. She stands alert, yet serene. Her eye is single…

Scripture reference;

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Matthew 6:22 KJV

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32 KJV

The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:5-11 KJV

I had an experience this afternoon while sitting alone on my front porch. It wasn’t the first time, but it had been a long time, and it was truly a wonderful experience.

I closed my eyes and prayed. I pray a lot, but this time while I was praying I was distracted by the Lord’s presence and reminded of something so important……something so beautiful.

I am prone to forget that His children are not just permitted to pray…permitted to approach His throne, but He actually longs for us to do that. He longs for us to be filled with joy. He can instantly transport us to a place where we can actually feel His immense, tender love. He enables us to ” ‘taste and see’ that He is good”

I am so thankful.

“The Open Book”(a poem)

church-2817154_1920

Scripture reference;

“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:1-5 KJV

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 KJV

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17 KJV

And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever. Revelation 5 KJV

“O” Is For Oleander

Scripture reference;

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 KJV

“9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:9-10 KJV

“18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.” Matthew 15:18-20 KJV

“7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:7-10 KJV

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 KJV

“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 KJV

I had a hard time finding a flower that began with the letter “O”. This is a plant I have never grown. I found the name on an alphabetical list of plants, and it sounded familiar. When I saw some pictures I thought they were pretty. As I read about them I discovered they are quite poisonous (fatal if ingested) to people and most animals. I read one article that said that if any part of the plant fell into a container of water, it would make the water poisonous to animals that drank it. Another article said that if oleander was burned the smoke would be toxic if you inhaled it.

Why would anyone want to plant this? Well, they are large, beautiful, and often fragrant shrubs that grow quickly and require very little care. They also bloom continuously throughout summer and early fall. They even (sometimes) bloom year round in frost free zones.

Why would a righteous God want us when we are so utterly sinful? He wants us, because He loves us. He will cleanse us, and purify us if we respond to His call, and answer. We require constant care, but He has promised to care for us. Aren’t you glad? I am.

“Oleander” by Theresa Anne Moore

She sprang up swiftly and bloomed with zeal.

Her fragrance carried enormous appeal.

Yet Ironically, despite her charm

Her presence would do certain harm.

She was toxic through and through

There was nothing that man could do.

They both shared the same condition,

But the Holy Spirit brought contrition.

The word brought hope unto the man

When it revealed God’s loving plan.

It promised life if we’d believe

Our Loving Savior and receive.

This post was submitted as part of the A to Z Challenge, where participants agree to post an article that corresponds to each letter of the alphabet and publish an article every day during the month of April (except Sundays).

Here at Serenaded Softly, my theme for the month is Blossoming Verses, where I’ll share a picture of something in bloom, a passage of scripture, and a poem.

“Heaven Knows”…thoughts about discernment: “The Sermon On The Mount”

sun-1161913_1280
image description for the blind and visually impaired:  an expanse of dark grey clouds that frame a glowing platinum area suggesting something glorious that is just beyond the scope of our earthly existence.

Scripture reference;

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9 KJV

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 KJV

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 KJV

“3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”  1 John 3:1-5 KJV

The past few hours have been spent reading, watching a video, and…

…weeping… a good part of the time.

“Weeping?”… you might ask.

Yes, weeping.

“Weeping tears of joy?”…you might ask.

No, weeping tears of sorrow that come from a broken heart.

“But why? Aren’t you saved? Aren’t all of your sins forgiven, blotted out, under the precious blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world?”

Yes, I am saved. I am a born again child of God.

“Then why?”

Because my sins hurt others, defiled me, and broke God’s heart.

As Christians grow they become in part more like Christ in a number of ways. One of those ways is that our hearts break more easily over sin.

The Bible teaches that one of the things Christians will have in common with Christ is that we will suffer, and a heart that is broken and contrite is a part of that.

But it doesn’t “end” there!

The suffering will produce a huge measure of joy and peace.

“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” Isaiah 32:17 KJV

4 Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:4-5 KJV

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9 KJV

Below is the video I watched. Please take the time to watch it. It really does explain so much.

Hello!

Not to long ago I wrote a post titled “Catching Up”.

Here is a link that will take you to that post:

https://serenadedinseconds.wordpress.com/2020/06/18/catching-up/

In that post I shared that my computer died and I have been using my son’s computer. Well, last night he told me that he needs to take it back. So today or tomorrow will be my last chance to use it.

However, I do have some good news:

(1) I saw a video on youtube where a man said that those of us who live in the United States might be receiving another stimulus check (like the last one) possibly in a month or two. If we do I might be able to buy a new laptop computer.

(2) I live only a mile or 2 from my local library, and if the covid 19 situation permits it, I might be able to go there and use one of their computers maybe once or twice a week.

So my posts will not be as frequent as some blogs, but I am “still here”…so to speak.  🙂

Today I was talking with a friend on the phone, and told her about a poem I wrote, and now I am going to tell you about it.

Several years ago I wrote a poem that illustrates who I was before I trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, my personal Lord and Savior. It also illustrates the scared little girl I sometimes still am and how the Lord continually helps me. You can use the link below to view it

tea-556777_1920Image description for the blind and visually impaired:  a photograph of a little girl pouring iced tea from a ceramic tea pot that looks like a lemon that has been cut in half. She is faceless, because the picture is from the shoulders down, but she is wearing a pastel floral printed dress, and is seated at a small table outdoors that is spread with a white table cloth as she pours the tea into a mason jar that has been painted with little yellow flowers that are blooming atop green strappy foilage, and is resting on a pale yellow towel.  To the left of the towel is a small vase containing what might be yellow daffodils. The entire picture is intentionally lacking the sharpness of an ordinary photograph, so that it evokes a mood that readily embraces that which is nostalgic, ethereal and surreal.

“The Mystery of Prayer”: Beholding Love

heart-1407248_1920
Image description for the blind and visually impaired: Resting on the sand is a heart comprised of small smooth stones (some beige, some brown and some grey) “fitly joined” like beads strung into a bracelet.

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:1-3 KJV

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:17-27 KJV

It is standing on the yellow center of what appears to be a light pink petaled zinnia with a backdrop consisting of an obscure turquoise sky with faint patches of wispy white clouds.

It is my prayer today to not merely see, but to behold and love others as Christ does.

I want to let you know that I am having computer problems.

I am typing this post on my son’s computer.

I used to use a desk top computer. It is about 10 years old. My son is a school teacher in a town a few hours drive away from where I live. When the schools first closed due to the covid 19 virus he came down for an extended visit, and loaned me his laptop. This was so nice. I could use it in the living room. Then I started having trouble with facebook crashing, so I started using the old desktop again. Last night that computer finally died.

So now I am back on my son’s laptop. I can’t go to facebook, can’t go to my aol email account, because it crashes. For some reason, I am able to type this blog post today, and it isn’t crashing, but I don’t know how long before it does.

So if any of my readers with whom I correspond through email and facebook are reading this post please know I will try to post here as long as I am able.

All of this saddens me. I will try to explain why.

Some of you already know that my husband has recently gone almost completely blind. I quit my job last November as he needs me here at home. Due to the resulting drop in our income we had to adapt our lifestyle which limits our driving. We have pretty much just remained home for the most part.

Then with covid 19 much of the world has been staying home, too.

Nearly all of my socialization has come from facebook and my email correspondence.  I even joined a ladies facebook summer Bible reading group. I was really enjoying all of the sharing. Now none of that is possible.

However, I know the Lord has a reason for everything, so I am going to count my blessings.

Love and prayers,

Theresa
