“Prayer”

Scripture reference;

1And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.” Revelation 8:1-5 KJV

“Prayer” by Theresa Anne Moore

“Peradventure” she exclaimed.

“Please deliver those I’ve named.

Make them whole.

Cleanse them through.

Reveal to them

The good in You.

I love them Lord.

You understand.

Help me to trust

Your loving Hand,

And one more thing

That I request:

I confess You

Know what’s best,

But I long to see them smile;

To hold them close for awhile.”

A Home And a Job

The Lord gave Adam a home and a job. Adam was going to be a gardener. I have some flowerbeds. They are mostly made up of shrubs. They keep me busy, especially from around April until the end of September. The picture of the roses and hydrangeas above was taken in my back yard. They are growing right beside my patio. I enjoy working with plants. It’s nice, quiet work. The only sounds to be heard are pleasant sounds…birds and bugs. The Lord speaks to me there. He shows me the most fascinating things in simple things that illustrate spiritual things. I talk to Him about things that are on my mind and He listens, and responds in the most creative, yet useful…

Reflections on the A-Z Blogging Challenge

A-to-Z Reflection [2015] - Lg

This was my first time to take the A-Z Blogging Challenge, and I did it!

Here at Serenaded Softly, my theme for the month was Blossoming Verses, where every day during the month of April except Sundays l shared a picture of something in bloom, a passage of scripture, and a poem.

I didn’t even learn about the challenge in the first place until just a few days before it was scheduled to begin. I guess you might say I was flying by the seat of my pants. There were a few times that I managed to write a post or two a few days before I shared it, but for the most part I was writing my posts the evening before each one was due. There were even some posts that I shared less than an hour before the day they were supposed to be shared expired, so some of my poems could hardly be considered works of art.

Even though some of my posts were meager offerings, I really enjoyed writing them and participating in this Challenge! It was so much fun going through the lists of other blogs that were participating and visiting them. I am a friendly person by nature. I like visiting with strangers in stores and other public places. I really like meeting people. Then there are those occasions when I get to meet people who actually have common interests. Those are really enriching moments.

I hope to participate again next year. If I do I am going to try to begin preparing a month or so in advance. I want to thank the A-Z  Team and all of the Challenge Participants for making this such a great experience.

Blessings,

Theresa

A Thousand Words

Someone has said “A picture is worth a thousand words.” I was thinking about this old song and found this video on You Tube. The pictures of the faces touched me as much as the song.

Scripture reference;

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1 John KJV

Don’t you just hate it when you realize that you just sinned? I do. Do you want to be good, but fail? Does it break your heart? You are not alone. You are in good company. It happens to me all the time. I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father loves me, and forgives me. He loves and forgives you, too. When you feel the most afraid to face Him…that’s the time to run to Him!

“Z” Is For Zinnia

Scripture reference;

1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.” John 12 KJV

Zinnia is a genus of the annual and perennial plants of the family Asteraceae. I am not absolutely certain, but the articles I have read have suggested that the species of zinnia that are sold along with many of the bedding plants for sale in garden centers in the spring are annuals. The most popular species among them are called Zinnia elegans.

Some varieties of Zinnia elegans are dwarf which grow to be about 6 inches tall while the long stemmed varieties grow to be about 3 feet tall. When it comes to their flower heads, there are so many types and colors from which to choose! There are single flowering, double flowering, and even pompom types. They are long blooming, drought tolerant, and sun loving plants that prefer well drained soil. Some of them are prone to mildew in humid climates, but some of the newer ones are more resistant.

If someone were to ask me what I  like most about zinnias I would tell them that I like them for their personality. They are warm and often vibrant in color, and have this endearing way of evoking feelings of friendship, happiness, and hospitality.

The Bible teaches that the Family of God is the “Body of Christ”, and that we are His Hands and feet here on the earth:

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” 1 Peter 2:9-17 KJV

It is my prayer that the Lord would make me (and anyone else who professes to be a follower of Christ)  become more like the zinnia, and allow the Lord to permeate our beings transforming us into the kind of people that would draw others to Jesus.

Blessings,

Theresa
