1Corinthians 13 is a favorite scripture passage of many. In that passage you will find the most accurate description of true love that has ever been penned. Over the years I have come to use this passage to measure the quality of my love for both God and people, but only to find that my love always fell short of the standard I found in the two greatest commandments. Here they are below:

Scripture References;

36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew22:36-40 KJV

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies…

Psalm 103

“Now we see but a poor reflection, then we shall see face to face.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)

What could I possibly say?  My heart rejoices in these words below.

1Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul. Psalm 103

Here is a hymn that I am thinking about today:

Face to Face

Face to face with Christ, my Savior,
Face to face, what will it be,
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ Who died for me?

Refrain:
Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory;
I shall see Him by and by!

Only faintly now I see Him,
With the darkened veil between,
But a bless’d day is coming,
When His glory shall be seen.

Refrain

What rejoicing in His presence,
When are banished grief and pain;
When the crooked ways are straightened
And the dark things shall be plain.

Refrain

Face to face, oh, blissful moment!
Face to face, to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ Who loves me so.

Refrain

“Now we see but a poor reflection, then we shall see face to face.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Reasons For Giving Thanks-Comforting Words

Scripture Reference;

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  1Thessalonians 5:18  KJV

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.  Psalm 51:17 KJV

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you;  I will remove your heart of stone  and give you a heart of flesh.  Ezekiel 36:26 HCSB

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  Romans 8:28-31 KJV

I am thankful for many things:

I am thankful that Jesus died for me.

I am thankful that He saved me.

I am thankful that He put his Spirit in me.

I am thankful that Jesus promised that the Spirit would guide me into
all truth( John 16:13)

I am thankful that nothing can separate us from the love of God
(Romans 8:39)…Not even parents that fall short (That part was
not in the verse, but it is true, and it makes parents like me very glad.)

I am thankful that all of these promises are for our children, too.

I am thankful that my Savior does many works in his children… He
calls them, justifies, glorifies. (Romans 8:29-30)

I am so thankful that the sacrifices of God are a broken and contrite
heart (Psalm 51:17)…and that we have a God that can break hearts (Ezekiel 36…The order of events in that chapter is noteworthy.)

Scripture Reference;

1And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

2And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

3And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said…
