“The Issues of life”: Introduction

I was reading a blog post that is written by someone who is so precious in both the Lord’s sight and in mine. It got me thinking about spiritual bread. Below is a link to her post and a prayer that I like to pray.

Moore to Ponder

Scripture Reference;

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 KJV

 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1-5 KJV

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command…

Transitions Part 27: “Rambling”

“We go through seasons where our hearts can be so heavy with sadness. Yet even during these times it is so obvious to me that the Lord is lovingly providing for me constantly in countless ways. Some might say I’m taking my interpretation too far, but I believe “all of my ways” would also include “all of my moods”:

All His Benefits (Part 7Delight-Directed and Not so Delight-Directed Learning))

Scripture reference;

Psalm 103

 1Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

 2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

 3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

 4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

 5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

 6The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

 7He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

 8The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

 9He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

 10He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

 11For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

 12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

 13Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

 14For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

 15As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

 16For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

 17But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

 18To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

 19The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

 20Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

 21Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

 22Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

“Have you ever heard of “Delight-Directed Learning”?  It is a technique sometimes used to help students learn. In a delight-directed study, a child’s interests are ignited and sustained in ways that increase his or her interest in studies. We learn from both pleasant and unpleasant experiences…”

“Unassuming” (A Poem)

Scripture references;

“Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.” Psalm 131:1-2 KJV

“5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

Where to Look

I just had the strangest experience. I wanted to use a picture in this post that would illustrate looking straight ahead at Jesus and the path He has for each person who follows Him. My daughter takes a lot of pictures, and shares them on Facebook. Almost all of the pictures that I have used on this blog were taken by her. a few minutes ago I went looking through her albums. I saw the above picture and when I clicked on it in order to see it more clearly I noticed that she had put a Bible verse with it. Very few of her photos have Bible verses, and she has taken hundreds of them. The Bible verse she had selected was Proverbs 4:26…from the same passage I had already typed at the top of my post!  Isn’t that something?  :)

Scripture references;

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. Proverbs 4:25-27 KJV

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:12-17 KJV

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Hebrews 12:1-3 KJV

The enemy has many arrows in his quiver. His sharpest and swiftest arrows are the ones that are shaped like a pointing finger. We hear him hiss the phrases “Look at this” “Look at that”, “Look over here”, “Look over there”, “Look at him”,  “Look at her”, and “Just look at yourself!” as they whiz past us…and at us… on their way to their targets. He will do anything to distract us, to keep us from looking to Jesus.

What have you been gazing at lately? Has it been at the Lord, and the path He is directing you to follow, or has it been at something or someone else? Let’s take a moment to pause and look up and ahead to our lovely Savior and the wonderful things He has promised us.
