“Faithful” (a poem)

leaves-769450_1920

Scripture reference;

“1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 1:1-2

After a long pause in writing anything devotional I decided to get my feet wet tonight.

I had been reading passages out of a Sunday school  quarterly and although I understood the lesson, I just wanted to go somewhere else.

So I did.

I decided to read from Ephesians, and stopped after Ephesians 1:2.

You might be thinking, “Well she didn’t get very far.”, but you know what? I really did. Whenever I believe I have truly heard from God and the message is “Grace be to you and peace” that is a message worth quietly contemplating.

Have you ever been with a friend or family member when they took a phone call from another friend or family member, and then turned to you and said “Mom sends her love”, or “He says for me to give you a hug for him.”? Now imagine your friend is passing on a message to you from your Heavenly Father.

I used to become uncomfortable when I read the words “saints”, and “the faithful”, and tended to initially disqualify myself. But not tonight.

I looked at the word “faithful”.

I used to think that meant “the consistently obedient”. But tonight I thought, “You know, you are not consistently obedient to your husband, but you have never strayed from him…You are a faithful wife…so maybe you still sin daily, but you go to the Lord and to no other in prayer, and you trust no other as your Savior…Theresa, you are faithful.”

Then I thought “Is it really that simple?”, so I typed “Ephesians 1:1 commentary in the search bar, and found a commentary written by Alexander MacLaren at biblehub.com.

These words really blessed me:

“The saints are saints because they are first of all faithful. ‘Faithful’ here, of course, does not mean, as it usually does in our ordinary language, ‘true’ and ‘trusty,’ ‘reliable’ and ‘keeping our word,’ but it means simply ‘believing’; having faith, not in the sense of fidelity, but in the sense of trust.”

Shall I write a poem now? I think I will write an acrostic poem. Here goes.

“Faithful” by Theresa Anne Moore

ully persuaded to trust in His love

A wakened to walk in a course from above

nclining to hear as He speaks to the heart

T rembling with reverent joy He imparts

F orgoing philosophies vainly promoted

U tterly  treasuring His wisdom. . . devoted

L  oving partakers of His grace thereof

Yikes!  I left out the “H” I will try to repair this poem soon. Sorry. 😦

Very Important Words About Salvation

Moore to Ponder

Originally posted on January 24, 2010 at 9:04 pm

It is my hope that all who read my blog will understand and appreciate that we all come into the world with the following in common:

God Loves Us.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

We All Are Sinners.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.Romans 3:23

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.  Romans 3:10

God’s Remedy For Our Sin

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23

But as many as received him, to them…

Scripture reference;

v27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.30I and my Father are one. John 10:27-29

5I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. Psalm 118:5 KJV

‘The Lord’s salvation is a very large place indeed! His right hand most certainly does valiantly. Like in Noah’s day ( all who entered the ark, the Lord shut them in)…”

The Last Word

Scripture reference;

The Lord Rebukes Job’s Friends

After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. Now therefore takeseven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.”  So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer. Job 42:7-9 ESV

Poor Job had been through so much, and on top of that, his “friends” just had to tell him what they thought. They thought they understood, but they didn’t. They should have just kept there mouths shut and treated Job with genuine kindness. However, the Lord had His say in the end.

We go through some rough times here on the earth. Sometimes it is the result of wrong we have done and sometimes it isn’t. We really don’t know, because there isn’t a single day that anybody refrains from sinning, even Christians. We all sin daily in our thoughts, our words, and our deeds. Even in the midst of the most terrible times no matter what the cause the Lord still hears our cries, and loves us very deeply. He withholds his comfort from no one who calls on Him.

Christian, be of good courage. Lift up your head. Don’t believe condemning words no matter who speaks them.

Dear one, if you are unsure if you are a Christian or you know you are not, but wish to become one…these next few moments provide you with a precious opportunity made possible by the Lord Himself, because He knows who you are and has loved you a very long time…since before He created the earth! Below is a link that will take you to a page that awaits you. It has answers to questions that you might have and even a prayer that you can pray if you are at a loss for words. I am praying for you.

Love,

Theresa
