Scripture reference;

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.1Peter 5:6-7 KJV

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” Luke 15:4-7KJV

I have a precious friend who is a woman of faith. She means so much to me. She is facing some huge challenges in her life. In a letter to her I shared some scripture, and a link to a video that is less than two minutes long.  A few moments later I thought that they might be encouraging to others, too. Here they are below.

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Matthew 6:26 KJV
“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” John 10:14 KJV
“29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 49:29-31 KJV

  1. Reblogged this on Moore to Ponder and commented:

i posted this at my other blog (Serenaded Softly) a little while ago. I hope it blesses you.

  2. Debbie says:

This was so super comforting and encouraging! Like a big hug from Jesus! :). Thank you thank you! Love you love you! Deb

  3. As I was reading this I thought about the song His Eye is on the Sparrow. Even during our struggles it is a comforting thought that if He can care for one so seemingly insignificant He must care for us right? The video you included with this post was an amazing demonstration of His love. Thank you Theresa

  4. Theresa, I meant to add to my comment by saying that sharing this bit of encouragement was such a kind gesture and I’m hoping that your friend will be okay.

  5. Thank you, Theresa. I was thinking about 1 Peter 5:7 today. I just came in from trying to take bird pictures in my garden (a couple might be okay—those sweet things don’t stop moving). And then I saw the video with the birds in it. Lovely. I’ve noticed the times I feel like crying are the times when the Lord is able to get me to hear Him better. Sad but true. I’m like a toddler running around having a blast until I’m too tuckered out, then I’m ready for Daddy’s arms. So glad God is faithful, ‘slow to anger and rich in love’. I need a Father who is like that.
    Blessings & hugs ~ Wendy

    • Oh Wendy, I am so glad you shared that! I love the way you described the Father, and how you trust him like a little child. That is me, too. I think it is interesting that in the 23rd psalm it says, “He ‘maketh’ me to lie down in green pastures”. He wants us to rest, but we are prone to forget, so He intervenes.

      Love,
      Theresa

      • Have you ever read, “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23” by Phillip Keller? Another blogger told me about it, and I happened to find it at a used book store. It’s wonderful and helped me understand that Psalm more deeply. I think you’d love it. Keep your eye out for it. ❤

  6. Thank you. I will. ❤
