“Glad Tidings”: A Poem

Scripture reference;

1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:

To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.” Psalm 92:1-5 KJV

Glad Tidings” by Theresa Anne Moore

A bird was singing

Not far outside.

He brought glad tidings

He longed to confide.

I’m glad I listened

To what he said.

It involved me, too;

All that lies ahead.

  2. Theresa, your poem is a lovely reminder of His ‘glad tidings’. I appreciate how He speaks to us through creation.

    • Thank you Natalie!

      I was sitting at the table, and was wondering if I might be able to write another poem, and suddenly this bird started chirping outside, and not long after that the poem was written. 🙂

      Love and Blessings,
      Theresa

  4. Theresa, it is so comforting that if we but listen He is speaking to us. I don’t write poetry but can enjoy the written word of those who do. Early last Saturday morning before I went to a women’s conference I sat out on my balcony enjoying a cup of coffee listening to the birds sing and flit to and fro. In my heart I felt what you’ve so eloquently put to paper but wasn’t able to articulate. Thank you for this beautiful piece!!

  5. a very uplifting poem, Theresa, as are the Biblical quotes.
