Scripture References;

21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.” Mark: 5:21-24 KJV

“35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. ” Mark 5: 35-42 KJV

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”  Romans 13:10-14 KJV

There are so many heartaches that we carry. We can look around and find that all seems bleak. However, things are often not as bleak as we might think they are. If we draw near Jesus, and tell Him about our troubles we will discover that He already knows about them and has encouraging news for us concerning them!

  1. Reblogged this on Moore to Ponder and commented:

Add your ” And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.” thoughts here… (optional)

Great word of encouragement, Theresa–always timely, always needed! God bless you Big–love from your “old” sis Caddo

  3. I am so glad it was timely for you, too! I have had a specific burden for over a year now. I was thinking about it during my quiet time this morning. It is a situation over which I have no control. I was praying on behalf of this person, and these words suddenly surfaced in my mind:

“the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth”

I instantly felt comfort and was filled with hope, when I heard those words.

I loved and felt sheltered under the comfort and hope in this, wonderful woman of the Word. What a timely word indeed, and how it stirs me. I was especially impacted as you shared how those words came to you during prayer. Thank you soooo much and God bless you, Theresa, and those for whom you pray and He moves on behalf of.
    love you!!

Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂

“…things are often not as bleak as we might think they are. ”
I am speaking with a friend as I read your post. I am positive this is perfect timing!!! I got to share with her “things are often not as bleak as (you) might think they are”, and this will get better!!!

  6. Ann, that makes me so glad! I am praying for you both.
