Scripture References;

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

6 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick. Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.  Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.  Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii[a] worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. John 6:1-13 ESV

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:35 KJV

1Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.Titus 3:1-7 KJV

Not too long ago I wrote a post called “Gathered Fragments” ( https://serenadedinseconds.wordpress.com/2012/06/03/gathered-fragments/). In it I asked my readers to share what the Lord might be speaking to them in the passages of scripture I listed there.  This is my third post that is dedicated to the first three responses that I received. Sis Caddo (http://caddoveil.wordpress.com/)   shared these words:

“I never tire of hearing the story of Jesus feeding that big crowd with just a little boy’s lunch–if He’d never done any other miracles, you’d think that would have proved Who He was! God bless you from His abundance today–love, sis Caddo”

Above are some scriptures I have on my mind tonight as I am typing. The first passage (The feeding of the five thousand) is the one to which sisCaddo referred. Aren’t you glad that the Lord is generous?  We may find ourselves in so many different kinds of situations. Our hearts can become hard and ugly and unfit for anything good, but when we see that and we go the Lord we will find kindness and love in His gaze. His arms will be outstretched and His feet will be swift as He rushes to us, so we will only need to take one step. He will wash us and renew us! He does that when we are born again and He continually does that throughout the lives of believers:

The Parable of the Prodigal Son

11 And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. 14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to[b] one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19  I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’[c] 22 But the father said to his servants,[d] ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. Luke 15:11-24 ESV

    Oh this was Way Fun, Theresa! His generosity is contagious too–I find that I now give from HIS abundance, rather than from what little I think I have. It’s amazing how I always have more than enough–because HE is my source!! God bless you abundantly today–love, sis Caddo

  2. That is so true. We have the Lord Himself, so we have access to so much more than we realize. We just forget that. I am so thankful He reminds us.

    God Bless you, too!

    Love,
    Theresa
