Where to Look

I just had the strangest experience. I wanted to use a picture in this post that would illustrate looking straight ahead at Jesus and the path He has for each person who follows Him. My daughter takes a lot of pictures, and shares them on Facebook. Almost all of the pictures that I have used on this blog were taken by her. a few minutes ago I went looking through her albums. I saw the above picture and when I clicked on it in order to see it more clearly I noticed that she had put a Bible verse with it. Very few of her photos have Bible verses, and she has taken hundreds of them. The Bible verse she had selected was Proverbs 4:26…from the same passage I had already typed at the top of my post!  Isn’t that something?  :)

Scripture references;

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. Proverbs 4:25-27 KJV

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:12-17 KJV

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Hebrews 12:1-3 KJV

The enemy has many arrows in his quiver. His sharpest and swiftest arrows are the ones that are shaped like a pointing finger. We hear him hiss the phrases “Look at this” “Look at that”, “Look over here”, “Look over there”, “Look at him”,  “Look at her”, and “Just look at yourself!” as they whiz past us…and at us… on their way to their targets. He will do anything to distract us, to keep us from looking to Jesus.

What have you been gazing at lately? Has it been at the Lord, and the path He is directing you to follow, or has it been at something or someone else? Let’s take a moment to pause and look up and ahead to our lovely Savior and the wonderful things He has promised us.

Whoa–that is amazing!! I love it. Thank you for this message, too–I can always use another reminder to keep my eyes straight ahead on Jesus (and I need those little ear plug things, so that I won’t hear the hissing accusations!). Hope things are well with you–God bless you and your family abundantly today. love, sis Caddo

That was just the perfect picture! 🙂 How nice you have your own photographer to go to for photos! Thank you for the precious reminder to keep looking at Jesus . . .no matter what! May I keep recognizing the enemies whizzing arrows quicker and quicker!
    love and prayers and blessings!

  3. Something just occurred to me a few minutes ago. I was reading this post again, and realized that I left something important out…it has to do with one of the roles of the Holy Spirit. One of his roles is to convict us of our sin(s). We do need to be convicted.

What I said about Satan is true, but by only speaking about Him I distorted the truth. I might delete this entry and try again. I am so sorry. 😦

  4. It is quite a beautiful thing when instances like this can’t be explained. Your daughter has a wonderful eye for photography.

Oh, and I am so glad I found you again! 🙂

Beautiful photo, just like all your daughter’s other work. (Yes, I visited her website!) A coincidence? Of course not. God must have thought those words were essential to someone, to your daughter, and maybe even me. Thanks for your comfort and His. Love and hugs as always… : )

    • Thank you Linda! The feeling is mutual! You have been a great source of encouragement to me. Going to school was a huge adjustment. There were mornings I would be wake up so tired, achy, overwhelmed, and in tears. Then I would read your words here and on facebook…especially on facebook…they would tell me that I could do it, and I was so strengthened by those words. I really don’t know what I would have done had it not been for you and Deb. Isn’t it amazing how the Lord puts the right people in our paths at the right time?!

Wonderful, Theresa! Thanks for sharing 🙂

My head was whizzing as I read about the arrows… I know the feeling!

Great ‘coincidence’ that the picture matched your verse, or vice versa 😉 How great is our God!!

Thanks for the great reminders. Great post!! (Where’s the LOVE button when you need it?)

    Blessings

    Ella captured that path beautifully.

I had been looking up at Him and thanking Him so much for the paths that He had destroyed and the path He had opened for me.

Thank God for leading me here today 🙂

  9. Theresa, what a poignant reminder for us to keep our eyes on His path for us. ❤

Ah! Love the “synchronicity!” (Which is not really synchronicity at all…yes?)
Thanks for always sending a message that resonates with my heart. The pointing finger…just an hour ago had a conversation where I said when you point your finger…three more are pointing back at you!
Sending sweet blessings…hope you have a super wonderful week! ❤
